Project Details

It all began when I met Kyra through the club Community Attaches. Community Attaches represent University Housing, give housing tours, host Red Riots, and attend Open Houses in order to recruit prospective high school students to Southern Utah University. I also lived on the same floor as Kyra (The Leadership Floor). We were in a Leadership class together. This is where we met Chelsea Buck and won the First-year Experience assignment/presentation. This is how our EDGE project began...

At the end of our freshman year, we applied and interviewed to be Team Captains for Thunder U orientation. We attended a small training as soon as we were hired, and then again the day before Thunder U began. Each Team Captain had a Tavi group and we were told to choose a team name. I chose the name Red, White, and Thunder U. We mentored a group of about ten students each. Throughout orientation, I did fun activities and informative workshops, taught SUU traditions and made lots of new friends.

We created our own program at orientation - giving tours to new SUU students! We showed them where their classes were as well as resources such as the Testing Center, Writing Center and the Library.

The pictures below are of my Tavi group, the booth we set up on the Thursday (8/17/2016) and Saturday (8/20/2016) of Thunder U, and the maps we provided to the tour guides and students wanting tours.
